Spyglass offers two services:  Inspectors and Contract Administrators.

 

Inspectors

 

1. Examine new construction and renovation projects for integrity and general compliance with industry standards.  Review plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods for general compliance to industry standards.
2. Reviewing blueprints, observing the soil at construction sites, monitoring construction progress, electrical and mechanical systems, fire safety systems are in place, taking photographs and maintaining a log.
3. Inspect bridges, dams, highways, buildings, wiring, plumbing, electrical circuits, sewers, heating systems, and foundations during construction for structural quality, general safety and general conformance to industry standards.
4. Maintain and submit daily logs.  Supplement inspection records with photographs. Keep a journal of daily activities at the construction site, review plans and specifications and observe them being followed, report any issues observed, and maintain good records at the site.
5. Issue notices and stop-work orders after conferring with owners, violators, and authorities to explain regulations and recommended specifications.
6. Monitor installation of plumbing, wiring, equipment, and appliances to ensure that installation is performed properly and is in compliance with client’s recommendations.
7. Observe lifting and conveying devices safety and proper functioning.
8. Train, direct and supervise other construction Inspectors.
9. Evaluate premises for workers’ facilities cleanliness, including proper garbage disposal and lack of vermin infestation.
10. Monitor construction projects, including inspecting each construction phase, analyzing materials, examining techniques used and ensuring that the structure follows industry standards.
11. Inspect residential, commercial and industrial construction and building projects constructed, altered, repaired or demolished for general compliance to industry standards; reviews plans and specifications of projects to gain familiarity with the projects prior to inspection.
12. Perform field inspections to report the work performed and materials used; document quality of workmanship, quality of materials used, and compliance with plans, specifications, estimates and applicable codes and regulations; notes deficiencies and deviations from plans; refers serious problems and disagreements in interpretation to clients and contractors.
13. Provide customer service; address questions and concerns related to building codes and requirements; notifications to contractors and owners concerning deficiencies with technical requirements; investigates citizen complaints against contractors, and coordinates effective resolution of conflicts and disagreements; determines conformity to industry standards.
14. Respond to requests for information; document technical information to government authorities as authorized by client; assistance to the public within scope of authority.
15 Perform construction observation and oversight to document that construction of projects is done according to plans and specifications.
16. Facilitate communication between the client and the contracted construction companies.  Spyglass Construction Inspection Services; however, Inspectors are not project managers and / or  construction managers.

 

 

 

Contract Administrator

 

1. Oversee Project from conception to completion.
2. Prepare and negotiate cost estimates, budgets and work timetables.
3. Select and / or recommend appropriate construction methods and strategies.
4. Maintain daily logs and supplement inspection records with photographs. Keep a journal of daily activities at the construction site, review plans and specifications and observe them being followed, report any issues observed, and maintain good records at the site.
5. Interpret and explain technical information to workers and other professionals.
6. Issue violation notices and stop-work orders, conferring with the Client, violators, and authorities to explain regulations and recommend rectifications.
7. Report on work progress and budget matters to Client.
8. Examine Project to generally verify structural integrity and compliance with specifications, codes and regulations.  Review and interpret plans, blueprints, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to reinforce compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, regulations and safety standards.
9. Coordinate and direct contracted construction companies.
10. Evaluate premises for cleanliness, including proper garbage disposal and lack of vermin infestation.
11. Analyze, manage and mitigate risks where ever possible.
12. Negotiate terms and assist with the preparation of draft contracts for the Client to review and approve for the Project .
13. Spyglass’ contract administrators facilitate communication between the Client and the contracted construction companies.
